Although contemporary art of India is very much appreciated, the rage of Modern Art is vastly picking up its pace in India and across the entire world. The art in which the traditional painting styles have been subsided by a spirit of experimentation, is christened as Modern Art. The Modern Art movement in India originally emerged during the 1940s and the 1950s. Painters like MF Hussain, FN Souza, KH Ara, VS Gaitonde, SH Raza, Gade and Bakre called the Progressives have played a very major role in bringing the stature of Modern Art in India. Pablo Picasso is also one of those names who is still remembered for his contribution towards the global art fraternity. He is known across the world and any Modern Art Gallery in the world, if not carry his work, will atleast have a mention of him somewhere or the other. The notion of modern art is closely inspired by the concept of Modernism.

Abstraction is a very major segment of Modern Art. With each stroke of the painting brush, the artists explore their fascinations for various things under the sun and come up with a piece of abstract art which can be depicted into various things by various people.  Romantics, Realists and Impressionists were the pioneers of Modern Art. Romanticism was an artistic, literary and intellectual movement initiated by a bunch of artists during the 18th century in Europe who were Industrial Revolution and were driven by love and romance. Modern Art has evolved with time, however, Abstract Art is still the keyword of Modern Art deducing every component of art, form and color.

There are various Modern Art Galleries across the world who carry various paintings and artwoks by various artists who had played influential roles during the Modern Art Era. Several Modern Art Galleries in India showcase the works of the revivalists. The modern art era in India was started by the revivalists. The Revivalists revived India’s past by making Hinduism & Buddhism legends, stories & tales favorite in paintings. Many of their paintings which are the representations of various episodes of Sanskrit plays of Kalidasa and some scenes from Ramayana and Mahabharata, are kept intactly at some Modern Art Galleries of India.
